While a solo trip abroad is an amazing way to explore new cultures and learn more about yourself in the process, there’s something to be said about having an adventure closer to home as well.

Great solo travel destinations exist for American travelers who don’t want to leave the country, from cities to beaches and everything in between.

In their new report, Fifty Grande has found the best U.S. cities for solo travelers based on things such as safety, attractions, accommodation, and other factors that help the solo traveler choose their next trip.

These Are The 8 U.S. Cities Ranked The Best For Solo Travelers:

San Diego, California

This stunning Southern California city has always been a traveler favorite, and now it’s making waves with solo travelers as well. From surfing, and beach lounging, to exploring Balboa Park and the world-class San Diego Zoo, there is more than enough to do here to fill your days.

Exploring the city’s Old Town is also a highlight, and while San Diego can be an expensive destination, there are hostels and budget hotels to be found.

Spend some alone time at the Key West Theatre or the Museum of Art and History at The Customs House, or of course, you could always go snorkeling and then hit up the iconic bars for a sundowner.
