JetBlue passengers now have easier access to one of the most popular travel destinations this year. Earlier this week, the New York based airline announced multiple new flights to the Dominican Republic with “low-fare, high-quality flights to Central Florida”.

Jet setters looking for some fun in the sun can book immediately, as these flights are already on sale for this Fall!

Santiago, D.R.

JetBlue’s new route to Santiago de los Caballeros, D.R. will be the only direct flight here out of Orlando.

More commonly known as Santiago, the city itself is not as popular of a destination for travelers.

While there are certainly hidden gems to be found, the city makes for a great gateway to some other amazing places in the Dominican Republic.

The scenic beach town of Puerto Plata is just an hour and a half drive away by car or just over 2 hours by shuttle.

Travelers come here to escape the city life and enjoy the pristine beaches and golf courses.

Another accessible area from Santiago is the increasingly popular region on the Samańa peninsula.

Those landing at the Cibao International Airport can rent a car and venture off the unspoiled beaches and lush green jungles. New resorts are being built in this area, but the average may not have Samańa on their radar.

The flight schedule for this route will be:

  • Orlando (MCO) to Santiago (STI) offered daily at 1:00 pm
  • Santiago (STI) to Orlando (MCO) offered daily at 5:30 pm

This route officially begins on November 4, 2023.

Punta Cana, D.R.

Aligning with JetBlue’s plans to service popular Caribbean destinations, the airline is introducing a new route to popular Punta Cana, D.R.

Many vacationers come here to relax at resorts on the region’s beautiful beachfront. New resorts are still popping up, and many of them are family-friendly.

There is a fun new theme park for the whole family to enjoy too!

Punta Cana had a lot of success, and that doesn’t appear to be dying down any time soon.

With their open border policy during the pandemic, Punta Cana became a shining light for travelers during dark times.

Millions of tourists flock here each year for the ultimate dreamy getaway. With the new route on sale now, certain dates are as low as $123!

The flight schedule for this route will be:

  • Orlando (MCO) to Punta Cana (PUJ) offered daily at 8:35 am
  • Punta Cana (PUJ) to Orlando (MCO) offered daily at 1:10 pm

This route will also begin on November 4, 2023. Unfortunately, those looking to avoid awkward family get-togethers on Thanksgiving will not find a great deal. Blackout dates are November 18 through November 27.

Orlando Expansion

JetBlue made Orlando one of their focal points 15 years ago and has been growing ever since. Customers keep coming back for the carrier’s cushy amenities, such as:

  • More legroom in ‘coach’ seating
  • Free entertainment
  • Free, fast wifi
  • Complimentary snacks
  • Friendly customer service

The airline has taken over headlines lately. With a possible merger with a competitor, Spirit Airlines, their network may be about to expand tremendously.

No one knows for sure if this merger will go through, but JetBlue is acting as if it will.

Presently, the U.S. Justice Department has filed a lawsuit to put a stop to JetBlue acquiring Spirit. Time will tell the results.

If the merger does go through, there will be an estimated 200 flights out of Orlando via JetBlue by the year 2027.

They are banking on long-term goals of making Florida a hugely popular state for travelers, as Spirit is based in the city of Fort Lauderdale.

“Punta Cana and Santiago are both major Caribbean destinations, but limited options exist for customers to get there from Orlando today. These new routes, along with those that will be enabled by our combination with Spirit, will position us to deliver even more growth and connectivity to popular destinations for customers in Central Florida.”
