JetBlue just announced a new nonstop service to Amsterdam from New York.

This news is on the heels of another JetBlue news that announced direct service from New York to Paris and back.

In 2021, JetBlue announced service from the big apple to London, making its first European international voyage.

This is setting up JetBlue as a significant competitor to other airlines that already service the European area for American travelers.

As for its latest route — Amsterdam is a beautiful Dutch city in the Netherlands, often associated with different attractions like the Anne Frank House, The Vang Gogh Museum, and Dam Square.

The expansion of direct flights from John F. Kennedy International Airport to Amsterdam Airport Schiphol and back make travel to this amazing destination easier for travelers since JetBlue is known for keeping costs minimal and providing extraordinary service.

Find out why JetBlue is launching new nonstop flights to this popular European destination:

When is it happening?

JetBlue said they would be launching the service later, but we expect it to happen sometime this year or even after this summer.

If a late summer launch happens, it is perfect for traveling near the off-season since destinations are usually known for having cheaper flights and hotels during this time.

What kind of service?

In their last press release, JetBlue announced they would be flying their Airbus A321 Long Range aircraft for the route.

This specific plane has 24 Mint suites. Mint is JetBlue’s business class, which has recently won tons of awards. They’ll also have 114 seats, with many having extra legroom.

New York to Amsterdam is a 7-hour flight, so having additional amenities can make a significant difference in your travel experience.

Will it be direct?

Yes. The flights between New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport and Amsterdam Airport Schiphol will be direct, which is fantastic since many low-fare carriers that do this flight path stop in sometimes more than one city.

The frequency of the flights is still being determined, but we expect it to be popular during peak seasons like summer.

Amsterdam’s peak seasons are May to August.

Are there any other cities you can fly out of?

Presently, the only service will be from New York to Amsterdam (and back), but there are plans to expand the service to Boston Logan International Airport.

Are there any other international destinations JetBlue flies to?

JetBlue has two other transatlantic destinations in its inventory.

As mentioned, service to London started in 2021 (the first cross-Atlantic voyage), and service to Paris will begin June 29 from New York.

Amsterdam will be their third European destination.

Unfortunately, the flights only take off and return to New York. This can be an issue if you live in a different area.

The airline flies to many international destinations in Latin America and the Caribbean.

Popular stops include Cancún (Mexico), Montego Bay (Jamaica), and San José, Costa Rica.

Service to these destinations is already pretty spread out, so if you’re flying from another part of the country, you shouldn’t have too many issues going directly.

What’s there to do in Amsterdam?

Amsterdam is the capital of the Netherlands and is widely known for attractions like their city canals and red-light district.

If you’re traveling there in late summer, you can catch events like the Grachtenfestival. Grachtenfestival is the festival of channels in the city, and it happens around the second week of August for about ten days. It’s a really fun event with music, boats, and performances.

You’ll see the canal filled with tiny vessels. They also have a similar festival for little ones called Junior Grachtenfestival. It’s the perfect opportunity to introduce kids to different music genres.

JetBlue is expanding globally, and you should take advantage of its low fares and fantastic service.

They’re one of the first economy-based airlines to announce European voyages making them super desirable.
