The study also analysed factors such as crime rates and happiness to reveal the friendliest city break destinations in Europe.

London is among Europe’s most LGBTQ+ friendly cities, with a top friendliness rating of AAA. Having hosted gay bars since the 1700’s, London has been home to many in the LGBTQ+ community for a long time. A visit to Soho during Pride month is sure to be a lively occasion, with gay clubs, theatres and bookshops on every corner.
Zurich is also among Europe’s most LGBTQ+ friendly destinations for a European holiday, and the most friendly city overall on this list. Being a very liberal-minded city, Zurich is home to a lively LGBTQ+ scene with many parties and festivals throughout the year. Zurich also has the highest happiness index score of all the cities looked at, 7.54 out of 10 as well as ranking top overall for being the friendliest city in Europe, with a score of 9.89/10.
Copenhagen also ranks as a leading European city for LGBTQ+-friendliness, and the second overall friendliest city on the list. Denmark was one of the first European nations to legalize same-sex marriage in 2012, so it’s no surprise the city host two annual Prides, one in February and one in June. Copenhagen also is one of the safest cities on the list, with a crime and safety index of 26 out of 100.
Amsterdam also ranks among Europe’s most LGBTQ+ friendly destinations and the third most friendly city overall on this list. Being a notorious ‘anything goes’ city, it’s no surprise that the people of Amsterdam welcome the LGBTQ+ community with open arms. Amsterdam ranks 4th overall in Europe’s friendliest cities ranking, with a friendliness score of 7.72/10.
