As part of this year’s Pride Month celebrations, The Standard, Hua Hin is inviting guests to stay, play and sashay with a series of queer-friendly Love Fest events starting with the unveiling of ‘Your Own Pride,’ an art installation by Thai fashion maven and calligrapher Jirawat Sriluansoi on June 2. The specially commissioned art pieces celebrate diversity through the use of words that were once deemed negative but have since been embraced by the queer community.

An indispensable incubator of fresh ideas and a fixture of the Thai cultural scene for nearly two decades, Jirawat moves seamlessly between fashion runways, commercial photography and fine art. He is a cultural maverick who creates images that illuminate his styling signature and offers visual oomph for fashion spreads. In his ‘Thaipology’ project, he sets out to explore and reimagine the art of Thai typography and calligraphy by providing modern interpretations of familiar words.

Following the launch event on June 2, the month of June at The Standard, Hua Hin will be dedicated to creating a safe space where the local queer community can come together. On June 3, Bohemian Rhapsody will be screened as part of the poolside movie night with complimentary popcorn; on June 15, Not Your Standard Bingo – Pride Edition will take over Praça from 6.30 to 7.30 pm; and on June 17, guests are invited to join the Pride Talk with GIRLxGIRL, an online community that fosters connection and empowerment among women who love women, to celebrate LGBTQ+ diversity, explore body positivity, and gain new perspectives on identity in a safe and open space. The talk will take place from 5.00 pm till 6.00 pm in the Courtyard. On June 24, Hyper-Pop Princess DJ Peachji will be bringing some queer favorites and Y2K bubblegum sounds to the poolside from 4.00 pm to 7.00 pm.

Throughout the month of June, the resort will be offering Plated with Pride – a special dinner package (THB 5,999 for two) which includes a five-course dinner, a bottle of bubbly served in “bed” by the beach and a complimentary signature Mud Lounge experience at The Spa. About The Standard, Hua Hin:

Hua Hin has been a beloved beach getaway for over a hundred years, dating back to the construction of the railroad connecting the bustling metropolis of Bangkok with this dreamy seaside town. By the mid-1920s, it became the chosen holiday retreat for Thai nobility drawn to the undiscovered pristine coastline. Over time, this sleepy fishing village transformed into a popular coastal destination while maintaining its old-world charm and natural beauty. This beach town has been even further awakened with the arrival of The Standard, Hua Hin. The property was awarded as one of the best hotels in the world in Conde Nast Traveler’s 2022 Hot List, as the only hotel listed in Thailand, and was voted the #1 resort in Southeast Asia. The Standard, Hua Hin was also voted the #7 best resort in Asia and the #35 resort in the world in The Travel + Leisure World’s Best Awards 2022. This seaside retreat is nestled in a lush garden dreamscape with native flora and greenery, just steps from the Gulf of Thailand. The colorful collection of 199 rooms, suites and villas is complemented by an innovative spa program seamlessly paired with a lively and vibrant pool scene, and a variety of drinking and dining options to suit every taste. There’s the Lido restaurant and bar

for all-day indoor or al fresco dining, elixirs and fresh pressed juices at The Juice Café, and the impeccably restored Heritage House, Praça, for authentic Thai food and craft cocktails in an unparalleled setting.
