Southwest Airlines is one of the favorite low-cost airlines amongst American travelers, known for its friendly and efficient services and affordable fares. Perhaps the biggest draw is that there are no hidden fees.
While the airline doesn’t typically have fares as low as $17 like some other budget airlines, Southwest doesn’t tack on extra fees for seat selection, luggage, or even flight changes. These were the best rates found, but there are plenty more in the $400s from other major cities across the United States. Considering it’s a roundtrip flight, including baggage, those are still very reasonable fares for a dream destination like Hawaii.
It’s important to know that these are also the lowest fare type offered – Southwest’s “Wanna Get Away” fare. This is their base fare and includes two checked bags, no change or cancellation fees, and is non-refundable (although you will be given flight credit if you choose to cancel).
Southwest also offers three other fare types – Wanna Get Away +, Anytime, and Business Select. Each has additional benefits, which range from refundable tickets to priority boarding to complimentary drinks.
What To Do When You Arrive
