The Thailand Travel Mart Plus (TTM+), an esteemed B2B networking event jointly organised by the private sector and the Tourism Authority of Thailand, is back with a bang in 2023.

This year, the event has grown significantly, welcoming a larger number of attendees compared to the previous year, comprising 374 buyers from 50 countries, 435 booths of quality sellers from across Thailand and the Greater Mekong Sub-region, and 112 media from overseas and in Thailand.

There was an increase in participants. For sellers, there is an increase of 60.69% despite the additional criteria by TAT for having sustainability projects and initiatives. For buyers, there is an increase of 35.51% in participants with most of them coming from Europe, Africa, and the Middle East.

The surge in participation reflects the unwavering confidence of industry players and stakeholders in the remarkable potential of Thailand as a premier travel destination.

This year, the TTM+ has returned to Bangkok after the event took place in Chiang Mai, Pattaya, and then Phuket in previous years as part of the TAT’s strategy to promote provincial destinations. Attendees got to experience the growth of facilities, infrastructure, and business prospects that Bangkok has to offer after the travel and tourism industry has returned to normal.

TTM+ 2023 has become a remarkable gathering, with new features and exciting initiatives that showcase the country’s diverse culinary scene, domestic travel opportunities, and a focus on sustainability.

Amazing New Chapters: Thailand’s 5F Soft-Power Foundations

TTM+ 2023 also unveiled the Tourism Authority of Thailand’s latest campaign, “Amazing New Chapters,” which highlights the kingdom’s 5F soft-power foundations – Food, Film, Festival, Fight, and Fashion. This campaign demonstrates Thailand’s commitment to diversifying its tourism offerings and engaging visitors on various levels. Attendees saw the unique aspects of Thai culture throughout the event, promoting a deeper understanding of the country’s multifaceted identity.

Thailand’s 5F Soft-Power Foundations encompass a vibrant tapestry of cultural elements that contribute to its global influence. Firstly, Thai cuisine, renowned for its bold flavours and harmonious blend of spices, serves as a gateway to Thai culture, captivating the taste buds of people worldwide.

Secondly, the Thai film industry has garnered international acclaim with its diverse range of cinematic creations, exploring themes of love, tradition, and spirituality. Thirdly, Thailand’s festivals, such as Songkran and Loy Krathong, showcase the nation’s rich heritage and provide immersive experiences for locals and visitors alike.

Additionally, Muay Thai, the national combat sport, symbolizes discipline, strength, and unity, reflecting the spirit of the Thai people. Lastly, Thailand’s fashion industry has emerged as a global force, blending traditional aesthetics with contemporary designs and promoting Thai craftsmanship on a global stage.

Putting sustainability at the forefront

TTM+ 2023 placed a strong emphasis on advocating responsible tourism and sustainability. In an era where environmental conservation and responsible travel are crucial, the event is committed to promoting sustainable practices and initiatives. Recognizing the importance of preserving Thailand’s natural and cultural heritage, the TAT implements various initiatives to ensure the long-term sustainability of tourism activities.

Attendees had the opportunity to engage with exhibitors and partners who prioritise eco-friendly operations, support local communities, and protect Thailand’s natural and cultural heritage. TTM+ 2023 encourages all stakeholders to embrace responsible tourism practices and work together towards a more sustainable future for the travel industry.

By embracing sustainability, the TAT aims to strike a balance between tourism development and environmental preservation, ensuring that future generations can continue to enjoy the beauty and authenticity of Thailand’s natural and cultural treasures.

Thailand Travel Mart Plus (TTM+) 2023 was an extraordinary event that surpassed expectations and attracted a larger number of attendees who have immense confidence in Thailand’s tourism potential. The introduction of new features, such as the “Amazing Thailand Culinary City” and the focus on domestic travel, adds exciting dimensions to the event, catering to diverse interests and expanding opportunities for collaboration.

Moreover, TTM+ 2023’s commitment to sustainability reinforces Thailand’s position as a responsible tourism destination, showcasing the industry’s dedication to preserving the country’s natural beauty and cultural heritage.
