Trenchless Asia 2023 held at Malaysia’s premier venue, the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (the Centre), in May, successfully established Kuala Lumpur, the country’s capital city, as the Asia Hub for the rotating biennial event.

Returning to the Centre for the third time and to Asia for the first time since the pandemic, Trenchless Asia 2023 gathered 3,000 delegates from around the world and featured 150 exhibitors representing 27 countries. The exhibition showcased the trenchless industry’s latest advancements in economically viable, sustainable, and functional underground infrastructure solutions. With 24 individual conference sessions, the event surpassed all expectations and achieved significant growth compared to its previous edition in 2018.

“As a burgeoning city with long-term urban development plans, and with such strong support from the trenchless community and stakeholders here, Kuala Lumpur has been established as the trenchless hub in Asia. The show returned to Kuala Lumpur after a break with response from exhibitors and delegates so overwhelming that this year’s edition was scaled up by 50% and the multi-track conference programs had attracted more delegates than expected,” shared the organiser, Paul Harwood, Managing Director, Westrade Group.

Taking up a total of 5,000sqm (approx. 54,000sqf), the Centre’s purpose-built exhibition halls with huge loading bay opening and an extensive floor loading capacity were perfect to accommodate all the booths and heavy machinery, leaving enough space for visitors to move around and engage with exhibitors whilst experiencing the exhibits, comfortably.

The success of Trenchless Asia 2023 at the Centre underscores the exceptional experiences and world-class facilities that the venue offers. The Centre’s central location, situated in the heart of Kuala Lumpur, ensures convenience and proximity to major hotels, allowing exhibitors, visitors, and delegates to stay close to their clients, facilitating both business and social networking before, during and after events.

“The Centre’s strategic location is an absolute gem, complemented by its remarkable facilities. The convenience of on-site hotels, in the heart of the city, provides an unmatched experience, allowing our exhibitors, visitors and delegates to stay close to their clients. What sets them apart is their unwavering ‘never say no’ attitude, a rare quality that we seldom encounter elsewhere. Our event is undeniably demanding, yet the staff here rise to the occasion, surpassing all expectations. It is a testament to their dedication and commitment to excellence,” continued Harwood.

The Centre’s General Manager, John Burke, shared that, “We are exceptionally proud to host Trenchless Asia in Malaysia and are glad that the event was so successful. Trenchless Asia 2023 clearly demonstrated the exhibition industry’s ability to drive growth, foster connections, and showcase innovation. As exhibitions continue to evolve, we at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre remain committed to providing exceptional experiences for organisers and participants.”

Participant feedback for Trenchless Asia 2023 has been overwhelmingly positive, with attendees hailing it as the best show they have experienced. According to the organiser the Kuala Lumpur event fostered meaningful business interactions, provided invaluable networking opportunities, and facilitated knowledge sharing among industry professionals. Trenchless Asia 2023 truly exemplified the positive impact of exhibitions on industries, economies, and the local community.
