With demand for travel expected to increase even further in the coming months, United Airlines is expanding its international flight coverage by 25% for the summer.
United has stated that international bookings were already up 15% in March 2023 compared to March 2022, proving that this summer is going to be even bigger for international travel than last year.
In order to meet demand, United will fly nonstop to more than 100 international destinations this summer, including close to 25 brand-new routes.
Last summer, demand for international travel surged as the majority of countries around the world dropped all restrictions and returned to normal travel.
However, this led to travel delays and meltdowns, especially in Europe, as airlines struggled to accommodate the sudden bounceback of travel.
Anticipating even higher demand for international travel this summer, United has expanded its international flight coverage by 25% and introduced new routes from the following cities:
Newark
On March 25, United launched daily nonstop flights from Newark, New Jersey (EWR) to Dubai, United Arab Emirates. It’s the only U.S. airline to offer nonstop flights to Dubai from the U.S.
On May 27, daily flights to Stockholm, Sweden will resume for the first time since 2019, making it easy to hop over to this beautiful Scandinavian capital this summer.
And on May 31, United will introduce three times weekly flights from Newark to Malaga, Spain, just in time for the summer season. This will be in addition to nonstop flights from Newark to Tenerife and Palma de Mallorca.

You can also fly direct from San Francisco to other popular destinations in Italy, including Milan, Venice, and Naples this summer.
Chicago
Starting on May 25, travelers can fly direct from Chicago, Illinois (ORD) to Shannon, Ireland. United is the only carrier in the U.S. to offer nonstop flights to Shannon, which is the perfect gateway for exploring Limerick and Galway.
These daily flights will join existing daily flights to Dublin, Ireland.
On May 25, United will also launch daily flights to Barcelona, Spain from Chicago.
Washington, DC
Beginning on May 25, United will launch daily nonstop flights from Washington, DC (IAD) to Berlin, Germany.
United is the only airline in the U.S. to fly this capital-to-capital service, making it easier than ever for travelers from the DC area to get to Germany this summer.
Expanded European Flights For Summer
In addition to introducing new international flight routes, United will also expand its existing service to popular European destinations this summer.
For example, United will have 23 daily flights to London, United Kingdom (LHR) this summer departing from various cities, with an increase in daily flights from Los Angeles, Newark, San Francisco, Denver, and Boston.
United will also be expanding coverage to Paris, with daily flights from Newark, Washington, DC, Chicago, and San Francisco.
Expanded Asia Pacific Flights For Summer
Now that most Asian destinations have finally dropped travel restrictions and returned to normal tourism, United is also expanding coverage to the region, which is growing in popularity again with travelers.
New flights were recently introduced from Washington, DC and Los Angeles to Tokyo, Japan. United also resumed its pre-pandemic service from Denver to Tokyo and from San Francisco to Hong Kong.
Additionally, United will offer an expanded schedule of nonstop flights to Australia’s three largest cities this summer: Sydney, Melbourne, and Brisbane.
