Wyndham To Open New All Inclusive Resort In The Dominican Republic

Travelers jetting off to the Dominican Republic will have a new option for a luxurious stay soon.
Located on the Samaná peninsula in the northeastern side of the country, a brand new Wyndham resort will open later this year near beautiful beaches and a picturesque mountain range.
This country is home to some of the best beaches in the world, but not all of them are commonly known. In a growing area like Samaná, vacationers won’t be disappointed to try something new!
Welcome To Wyndham Alltra Samaná
With the goal to open by Winter 2023, Wyndham is proud to announce their newest addition to the Wyndham Alltra brand — Wyndham Alltra Samaná.
Renovations are currently ongoing on closed resort grounds to provide high-quality upgrades that match up with the Alltra brand. The all-inclusive resort will have 404 rooms and be acceptable for all ages to soak up the fun!
Right now, construction has broken ground, and guests should expect modern rooms, family-friendly amenities, improved food and beverage service, and state-of-the-art common areas.
Although this hotel will be a Wyndham-branded property, it will be managed by Playa Hotels & Resorts, who has a very impressive resume of 24 other resorts in prime destinations.
This new resort will target upper-midscale clientele by providing luxury accommodations and delicious food options at an exceptional value to their guests.
Many travelers may be familiar with Wyndham hotels, but maybe not the Alltra brand.
Debuting just a couple of years ago during the pandemic, Wyndham Alltra Samaná will be just the fourth Alltra property in Wyndham’s portfolio. This will be the first Dominican property, as the others are located in Mexico:
- Nayarit
- Cancun
- Playa Del Carmen

Why Samaná?
The unspoiled region surrounding the Samaná peninsula is an up-and-coming area in one of this year’s most popular countries for travelers.
Many first-time travelers to the Dominican Republic will go to more well-known destinations, such as Punta Cana, but Wyndham wants to change that.
That’s why they have their eyes set on the road less traveled.
While it is harder to reach by plane, that doesn’t necessarily mean this region should be passed up.
In fact, with its richness in nature and off-the-grid allure of untouched beaches, lush rainforests, and various coconut plantations, it can be even more intriguing to the right type of tourists.
This area is known to be home to over 6 million palm trees, after all!
Samaná is within 4 hours of all 3 major airports in the country:
- Santo Domingo – approximately a 2-hour drive
- Santiago – approximately a 3-hour drive
- Punta Cana – approximately a 4-hour drive
From all 3 airports, Samaná can be accessed fairly easily by car.
Visitors will reach the town of Las Terrenas, where they will be welcomed with beautiful scenery and fresh cuisine from locally owned restaurants.
Many who venture outside of the resort go on a moderate hike by horseback to one of Samaná’s main attractions, a trio of waterfalls 130 feet high known as El Lemon Falls.
Visitors will trek through colorful green forests full of native plants, including exotic fruits.
The freshwater pool set at the bottom of the falls is the perfect escape for a relaxing day in nature.
“As part of the Playa’s 10th anniversary expansion plan, this latest agreement allows the company to diversify geographically and grow the novel Alltra concept in a new territory for Wyndham. We are pleased to continue the growth of the Wyndham Alltra brand and are excited to launch a new property in a fast-growing region of the Dominican Republic. Many developers are beginning to hear about Samaná, and we’re excited to support the awareness of this desirable destination with the opening of this new resort”
Fernando Mulet, Chief Investment Officer for Playa Hotels & Resorts
